MADRID, Spain (CNN) — A bomb exploded in the northern port city of Zarautz in Spain’s Basque region Sunday, slightly wounding three people.

Two police officers suffered minor ear damage and another person was hurt by shattered glass in the explosion, Spain’s EFE news agency said.

Shortly before the blast, someone called transportation officials and said a bomb would go off near a construction company, EFE said.

Police cordoned off the area and asked residents to remain in their homes. Damage to the construction company building was not significant, EFE said.

The news agency did not say whether anyone claimed responsibility for the attack.

On Friday, the Basque separatist group ETA warned that its violent 40-year-fight for Basque independence "will continue" if the Spanish government doesn’t offer "an adequate response to the root of the problem."

In the statement, ETA also claimed responsibility for four recent attacks, including the car bomb explosion at a Civil Guard barracks in northern Spain earlier in May that killed a Civil Guard member and wounded four others.

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. - Space shuttle Discovery and a crew of seven blasted into orbit Saturday, carrying a giant Japanese lab addition to the international space station along with something more mundane — a toilet pump.

Discovery roared into a brilliantly blue sky dotted with a few clouds at 5:02 p.m., right on time.

The shuttle’s trip to the space station should take two days. Once there, Discovery’s crew will unload and install the $1 billion lab and hand-deliver a specially made pump for the outpost’s finicky toilet.

The school-bus-size lab, named Kibo, Japanese for hope, will be the biggest room by far at the space station and bring the orbiting outpost to three-quarters of completion.

"It’s a gorgeous day to launch," NASA’s launch director, Mike Leinbach, told the astronauts just before liftoff, wishing them good luck and Godspeed. Commander Mark Kelly noted that Kibo was the "hope for the space station," then radioed: "Now stand by for the greatest show on Earth!"

Nearly 400 Japanese journalists, space program officials and other guests jammed NASA’s launch site, their excitement growing as the hours, then minutes counted down.

Their enthusiasm was catching. NASA officials hailed the mission as a milestone.

"Obviously a huge day," NASA Administrator Michael Griffin said, for all of the space station partners "and really for all the people who hope to see space station come to fruition and do what it was designed to do."

The Japanese lab is 37 feet long and more than 32,000 pounds, and fills Discovery’s entire payload bay. The first part of the lab flew up in March, and the third and final section will be launched next year.

The entire lab, with all its pieces, cost more than $2 billion.

CORRENS, France (AP) — Brangelina must be cocooning. The paparazzi swarming France’s Cote d’Azur can’t find Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. Locals mutter or giggle about the invasion of Hollywood glam. A flyover of their new home in a luxurious villa turned up no clues about a report they’ve added a set of twins — which Pitt’s manager says is "not true."

This pastoral sliver of the south of France has been abuzz ever since reports emerged last week that the Brangelina clan was moving in — confirmed by the mayor of the village in question, Correns.

A helicopter swing Saturday over the vast yet reclusive Chateau Miraval, where the couple and their four children are said to be settling, turned up only stepped vineyards, empty chairs at a table on a pockmarked stone patio and a helicopter parked on a finely groomed lawn in front of a farmhouse and accompanying buildings.

A handful of parked cars and two men were seen from up above — one planted next to the chopper, another peering skyward through binoculars from an estate driveway. Other than that, there was no sign of human life outdoors or in. Several shutters were pulled on the main stone house.

The apparent calm did not stop the buzz.

"Entertainment Tonight" first reported on its Web site Friday that the actress had given birth in France. Show host Mary Hart cited an unidentified source who claimed to be in the delivery room, saying the twins were born and that "yes, mother and babies are fine."

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico - The candidate is on an outdoor stage, her shoulders bobbing and weaving as two reggaeton performers dance around her. Welcome to Hillary Rodham Clinton’s most excellent adventure.

She had just given a mercifully short 10 minute speech and would soon wade into the rope line, all smiles, signing T-shirts, taking pictures and otherwise mugging with a crowd that had waited more than four hours to see her.

Party leaders are demanding a quick end to the Democratic contest. Yet her legions of loyal backers have no qualms about pressing on. With the end of the primaries able to be counted by the clock — 72 hours away — Clinton appears unflappably amused.

"Campaigning in Puerto Rico is like one long Puerto Rican Day parade," she said cheerfully on Saturday, invoking the annual New York City event that is a staple for politicians.

Clinton and her aides publicly say she remains determined to win the Democratic nomination. But with rival Barack Obama on the verge of becoming the party’s nominee, they are clearly prepared for finality next week. Senior aides say they enter these last days believing, in the words of one campaign official, that they have "left it all on the field."

Puerto Rico votes Sunday; Montana and South Dakota hold their primaries Tuesday. Clinton kept a busy schedule Saturday, holding a health care session in the morning and touring San Juan’s outer suburbs for the remainder of the day in flatbed truck caravans. She planned to return to South Dakota on Monday.

"Go out and vote on Sunday. Bring your friends and your family with you, make sure your voices are heard," Clinton told a San Juan crowd that had been awaiting her arrival for hours late Friday.

NEW YORK - Health officials are warning New Yorkers to stay away from an illegal aphrodisiac made from toad venom after the product apparently killed a man.

The city’s poison control center issued the warning Friday after receiving a hospital report that a 35-year-old man who ingested the hard, brown substance died earlier this month.

The product is sold under names including Piedra, Love Stone, Jamaican Stone, Black Stone and Chinese Rock at sex shops and neighborhood stores. It is banned by the Food and Drug Administration.

City health officials said the victim, whose identity was not released, was admitted to the hospital complaining of chest and abdominal pain. He died two days later.

Health officials said the hardened resin, made with venom from toads of the Bufo genus, contains chemicals that can disrupt heart rhythms.

The aphrodisiac was supposed to have been applied to the skin, not eaten, but authorities said even that use can be harmful.

CHICAGO - A drug to prevent bone loss during breast cancer treatment also substantially cut the risk that the cancer would return, results that left doctors excited about a possible new way to fight the disease.

It is the first large study to affirm wider anti-cancer hopes for Zometa and other bone-building drugs called bisphosphonates. Zometa, made by Novartis AG, is used now for cancers that have already spread to the bone.

The new study involved 1,800 premenopausal women taking hormone treatments for early-stage breast cancer. Zometa cut by one-third the chances that cancer would recur — in their bones or anywhere else.

"This is an important finding. It may well change practice," said Dr. Claudine Isaacs, director of the clinical breast cancer program at Georgetown University’s Lombardi Cancer Center.

About three-fourths of breast cancers occur in women after menopause. Zometa may help them, too, but it hasn’t been tested yet in that age group.

The study was led by Dr. Michael Gnant of the Medical University of Vienna and reported Saturday at an American Society of Clinical Oncology conference in Chicago.

If a second, ongoing study also finds a benefit, doctors predict that Zometa will quickly be tested against other cancers that tend to spread, or metastasize, to bones, such as prostate and kidney cancer.

"Hugely important is whether this has to do with the fact that it just makes the bone hostile, somehow, to metastasis or if there is a more global anti-metastasis effect," said the oncology group’s president, Dr. Nancy Davidson of Johns Hopkins University.

"Either of those would be good and would teach us a lot about what to do next."
